All Missionaries...

Before I dive into this blog post I just have to say I am SO excited to get away in just two days!!! Jay and I will be driving to the Grand Canyon and just enjoying nature and God's good earth and everything in between. Work for me has seemed tedious now that I am waiting to go =) But, all good things come to those who wait, so here I sit and wait! Had a very good weekend. Sunday worship was wonderful. It was just Jay and myself and our friend fellow Dave, who is just the sweetest guy, and who plays bass pretty much ALL the time. it was wonderful and intimate and refreshing, Tho, I don't mind, and always enjoy worshiping with the team, sometimes it's nice to just do something smaller, because then I'm not thinking (or rather, worrying) about whether people are going to follow me if I go somewhere, or not etc. etc. Anyways ,this weekends service was on how Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Which is basic information if you are studying in the faith. But what hit m...

A Wee Vid

I wanted to share this with y'all ... This is from our last studio session on Sunday. John recording (as we taped!!) his bass to our song "Pour Down", which Alan, our producer (seen at the controls) has dubbed our "Stairway to Heaven". Enjoy! Till next blog!~ love a.
Oh, what a last bit of day's it's been! I need to write quickly since I only have 15 mins left at work ... We were in the studio yesterday laying down the bass tracks for the album, with which Jay is now editing to sync w/ his guitar and the drums. it's amazing how the sound just POUNDS out of the monitors now when we hear it ... I shudder with excitement to think what this will be when it's done. And I also shudder in a bit of nervousness because I know that my part is next! We'll prob. schedule some time in May or beginning of June to do the vocals. We'll do the "soft" parts first and the "intense" parts last (or so is our plan) and I'm hoping to do some "mid-scratches" (so, re-singing vocals so I figure out what I'm doing) at home as well as some backups and the "bits" (ie, spoken words and whispers). It feels surreal that it's coming together, and at the same time it feels like it's taking forever, ...

The Owl Box

On a slightly unrelated note, I've been wanting to share this for awhile. You may or may not have heard about "the Owl Box" it's become an internet sensation here in Southern California. A family in San Marcos (which is about 10 miles inland from us) put up an owl box in their back yard (which is basically a big bird house for owls) they are just simply avid bird watchers and lovers and put this house up (fitted w/ cameras) just so they and their families could enjoy watching. It took two years for an owl to make it her home (and lay eggs), and since they started broadcasting the site, the "station" (on ustream.tv) has recieved over 5 MILLION hits! (which is crazy) anyways, we've been watching "Molly" and her little parliment of baby owlets (which have hatched over the last two weeks and are now growing like crazy) at work for the last 2 weeks, it's kind of addictive, and incredibly interesting, and Molly is SUCH a beautiful bird. Anyways, ...

Happy Easter

We celebrated Easter (well, technically, we are still celebrating) by doing Church this morning. Planned our first Easter Service, it was pretty music heavy I guess, but the guys handled it well, and I had Jay, so that makes all things a lot more bearable =) We sang (special for Easter) a song called lead me to the Cross, and read a poem that I wrote for the day -- I hope that things went over well. I feel like I am still struggling to "fit in" at our church. It's strange to not only be attending a church where we don't really live and have no neighborhood or initial friend contacts, but also being such an integral part of it. I need to keep reminding myself (or maybe just settling in the fact and "knowing") that this is where God wants me to be right now. It's really not about me, as much as I would love to think it is. But we are obviously there for a reason. I need to be faithful. And I am thankful ~ I'm making an Easter Ham now (it's i...
