Catch my breath to breathe

Image
(Picture taken on our new iPhones ... waiting before our last show at the Royal Dive) A multitude of things have happened with the California Huzil's this past week since my last post. After (quite an amazing) couple of days of prayer we (Jay and myself) have decided to take the worship leadership position offered to us by the North Oceanside Church Plant (Generation North O'). I feel very much at peace about it and actually super excited, I know it will bring it's challenges for sure, but it will be amazing if we let God do what he desires with that place. I'm not sure how exactly things will unfold, but I lead my last (sniff) children's worship this coming Sunday and then I anticipate we'll be fully incorporated into serving at the other church. I would truly love and appreciate your continued prayer support as we begin this new phase of ministry in our lives. We will need it now more than ever!! We begin tracking scratch tracks for our album (yes, FULL LEN...

An Answer to "Antsy"

The title of this blog alone makes me smile -- but here is the real kicker. I don't know if God answers blogs ... I know He answers prayers, but when I read back over my blog from two weeks ago, it's so apparent that, as I had spilled my hearts cry in words onto a screen and into cyber space, that God heard, and I think he may be answering Here's the situation. We got a call yesterday from James, the current worship leader at the church we go to in South Oceanside. The church plant in North Oceanside (which, if you recall, we were thinking of attending, but then plans fell through because the house situation fell through etc. etc. and nothing more was thought of) has run into some un-tasteful personnel issues of sorts, and they're in a bit of a pinch. To make a long story short, James asked myself (and Jay, he is my other half) if we would be interested in a worship leader/facilitator type position at the North Oceanside Church, in light of the recent events. (Does thi...

(Band photo by Kristin Genna -- taken outside the Royal Dive, Oceanside CA) This past week has been a blurr of activity, I found myself this a.m. getting up at 6 a.m. and just yearning for some time to myself ... I went for a run and didn't even listen to my ipod .. .I just ran and talked to God in prayer and got ready for today. We played a show with the band on Thursday at a local watering hole/dive bar (aptly named the Royal Dive) the owner witnessed our show and was so impressed that he invited us to play again in November and ALSO that Saturday night. We prob. should have said no, but in the event that there would be a good crowd there, we opted to play. (a side note, we also played worship on Sunday at our church, and yes, we were VERY tired) There wasn't a good crowd there ... (Thurs. was a completely different story) just some tables and varying degrees of drunk people mostly, but it was interesting because for the first time, it was really a shitty show, but I'm ki...

Antsy

We have had the pleasure of having ANTS (the wee, tiny, brown bodied kind that San Diego seems to have been built on) invade our kitchen. We had a decent sized swarm on Thurs. of last week ... to which jay and I literally assaulted any way that we could. (I drowned a huge lot, and Jay was spraying with Lysol mildew remover w/bleach the rest of them) we annihilated the group, so we thought, but they were literally coming through cracks in our walls, so we had to call our landlady to get them to spray ... they're due to be at our home sometime today, though at this point (and a whole long weekend later of war with the ants) I'm not sure what they'll be spraying ... or where. For those who do not know. Ants in San Diego are pretty invasive. They seek out water and food of almost any kind. At first you can just squish the couple that you see, but if these little insects happen to find something and you aren't there to stop them right away, they litterally become a super hig...

Saturday is my most favorite day for sure ~ after a week of anti-climax (Break Forth BIG deadline on Monday and Tuesday) but then a slow down of Wed. and Thurs and, well Friday, here I arrive on Saturday. My mom and Ed are driving down to visit us, they're leaving, well, right now =) I'm excited to see them, and really hope they have a wonderful holiday drive. They'll be going through the redwoods, which will be spectacular, prob. arriving here around Thurs. then staying for a couple days and driving home. We'll be playing a show next Thurs. too, so it would be so wonderful for them to be able to see us live -- and they'll be bring some of our Canadian things down, most importantly our dishes and silverware ... I can barely remember all the peices that I have, but I'm looking forward to getting re-aquainted with them. I had a much better day on Wednesday ... I sort of grabbed ahold of my heart and realized that, even though I was having "post-mountain-top...

The Fade and the Fall ...

... is how I feel I only have 5 mins so I'll be brief. I am most def. feeling the spiritual "low" after the spiritual "high" of my Hillsong experience. I feel like all of the momentous things that occurred were amazing, but I am sailing on the sea of life and I'm beginning to feel like I've left everything I experienced, my feelings, my emotions, my burning momentous heart, on an island somewhere ,leaving me to look longingly backwards at them, wondering if I even changed at all. Your mind can play tricks on you, make no mistake. And I think these are the times that I need to focus on what I KNOW, not what I FEEL. And I need to rest on promises made, not the feelings of guilt or inadequacy in fulfilling them/not fullfilling them. God knows my heart, and He knows my times. I just finished my HUGE deadline for Break forth, still many smaller projects to go ... but it seems to have winded me a bit (like it always does) and work @ JC feels mundane and pro...
