And there are still fireworks...
Today (well, at this point, yesterday) Jay and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary. Some would wonder how we made it this long -- which really isn't long at all -- and to that, I have no answer.
No special formula to say, "Hey -- you can make your marriage work, this way!"
There simply is none, I think that by the grace and goodness of God, we were placed together, to do, immeasurably more together, than we could ever achieve apart. I believe we have divine purpose and that is why we are together, here (instead of 'there')
I feel fortunate enough to say that I still 'love' my husband, and I'm actually still 'in love' with him, as well as feeling comfortable enough in my own skin to feel, unexplainable comfort around him.
It's strange too, I think when you've hung out with someone for so long ... years...that there comes a point you realize that things that you've accomplished, the direction your life has taken, has turned so much, that you cannot turn back.
We have a really good friend who signed his divorce papers today, the same day that Jay and I celebrate our commitment. They made it almost to their eighth year...
Relationships are so fragile that they require more care, almost than you would think to give yourself. They require sometimes, dieing to yourself, to your agenda, for the sake of unity.
In my opinion, it's a lot more about being committed to the commitment than the person. Because, the person will fail you (we are, after all, utterly human) they will hurt us, help us, they will be our everything, and then, everything that makes us angry. And yet, we should choose to love. Not because what they are doing is o.k. or because we're 'blind women', but because we're grown up enough to stare that which wants to steal, kill and destroy, in the eyes, and defiantly scream, or whisper, I am stronger than that, and i choose life, and love, and God's purpose, instead of my own.

And with all of that said, we celebrated yesterday in our little apartment, we dressed up in our 'black, svelt-wear' and had dinner with the Sea World fireworks as our background music. Today (which actually was our real day) we went to church, and hung out with friends, and enjoyed the blessings of a day of rest.

So the rest, will be beautiful history, as yet, unwritten, but looking forward.
