The New Adventures of Old Point Loma Towers
SIDEBAR -- Cutest dog in the world this week ... sorry Amanda---------------
Well, we've finally moved into our new "old" place, we got the keys this morning.
The first thing I did?
Sleep
I crawled onto our bed and curled up into our comforter (in my clothes) and crashed for about an hour and a half. Even now, I feel so tired, but I am beginning to feel relieved.
My weekend, was amazing. I spent it as a "facilitator" at the Southern California HOBY Leadership Conference in San Marcos, which is just 40mins north of San Diego. I met some of the brightest young people EVER. Seriously, one of the first questions I was asked by one of the kids? Was I "Democrat or Republican" ... to which I replied, "I'm Canadian", so as to avert any further political discuss. I couldn't believe these kids actually CARE about politics, policy, business and making a difference, they're planning to be doctors and presidents and astronauts, etc's ... I was floored.
(All the kids ... there was another photo taken with the facilitators, I'm waiting for it...)

(This is me (obviously), Chad, my pastor @ SDC, who spoke that weekend too, and Lauren, we're all the "Adults" supervising)
The conference was fun, challenging, and pretty crazy at times. Sometimes I felt like I had stepped into some strange "Young America" scene with crazy cheers (of which many make no sense) and when Jay picked me up after the weekend was over, I felt like I was a 16 year old, all hyper and nutty and making no sense when I talked... I think I'm starting to get over that.
more children yay!
(myself and one of the JC's (Junior Counsellors) Jackie, I was assigned to her group for the weekend)
Anyways, the weekend was cool, because I really felt that I was put there for a reason, I think partly for myself, to learn about the world and leadership and to step out of my comfort zone (a tonne!) and interact with crazy kids. One thing that I did miss through the weekend was God. When you get so busy and everything is focused on other things, you loose (or at least, I guess I did) the closeness of having God beside you, and I really want to get that back.
Especially in my life right now, as absolutely crazy and ... just CRAZY ... as it seems, I'm trying to cling to God, but I'm so busy I'm not spending time with Him, and I really want to. I want to just sit and read the Bible, or sing, or just anything that will bring me back to community with Him, in an intimate way, not the surfacey, "I'm talking about God way and thinking about Him", but in the real Heart way, where you can just look into his face and say I love you and sit on His lap like a child.
That's my goal for this week. (Among other things, but that, I know, comes first)
love, a.
