Week in Review ... so far

So, we've had Jay's littlest sister Amanda here with her boyfriend since Sunday. We've mostly been hanging out with them, and we've been spending alot of time with a friend of hers as well, named Chris, he's an Albertan as well, but is currently residing in Oceanside (which is the town right next door to us).


We celebrated her birthday on Tues. with a beach bonfire. Yesterday we drove out to thier (actually the boyfriend's) time-share in Ramona, and I was engulfed by the arrid beauty of the Southern Californian Mountains. Jay and I woke up early and went for a walk and found some great Cactus and NO rattlesnakes ~ which is good =)




And this afternoon Jay and Justin (Amanda's Beau) went surfing, while I snapped pics like crazy and got my pants TOTALLY soaked. I have some down time at the moment, between the bussle of spending time with family and trying to work, so I thought I better jot down the first part of this week down before I forget!!

I admit I'm slackin' with work, since it's pretty hard to stay motivated when those around you are in holiday mode...but tonight I think I'll be trying pretty hard to get caught up.

So, I'm not sure what the weekend will hold ... work for me is actually pretty interesting right now. Amoung many things, I'm working on a CD design for a client, Patrizia, she's a "Rock-Soprano" and that pretty much describes her work. She has an INSANELY good voice and sings opera over hard rock ... pretty interesting =)

There has been a lot of emotion for me the last couple days ~ it's hard to describe to someone who doesn't understand. After finding out that my dad that I've never known, is alive and has been looking for me, and after being found by a half sister -- worlds just are not the same.  The very person who's lack of presence has had a mighty hand in shaping the person that I am, is now is this strange half-shadow that is almost within reach, but still not accessible. If I ever wondered if HE loved me

So, I'm going to admit how pathetic and "of little faith" I can be with this post. Of course, there needs to be a bit of prelude-type explanation. On Nov. 20th my husband and I will celebrate a special anniversary -- 4 years since leaving our home -- the only one we've known in Sherwood Park, Canada -- and driving, with only our car, clothes and guitars across the border and down, down, down to San Diego, California. (that's 1751 miles south) Our reason for the move was to pursue our music, our mission and our dreams and just a new life, pioneers of sorts. It would take me many blogs to say how many times God has shown me his love through the whole process, from easy stops at border crossings, to precisely timed Visa interviews, to lenient border guards, to miracles in paperwork and finding jobs, it is astounding how He has continually provided for us, and continually strengthens my faith through circumstance. Studio Feb 13th . 2010

So this weekend we went into the studio, Ground Level Sound, in Vista, CA to track drums for our album ... we did four songs yesterday and began one today (Unwanted Man, shown above), but then our producers computer crashed (!!!), so we had to leave early (only one hour after we got there) and he is now in the process as I type of retrieving the files that were lost when his drive became corrupt =(, I feel mostly bad for him, as he literally had a whole month of projects in jeopardy. I've racked my brain a bit today as to why this would have happened, and I have no answers, we're a bit deflated but all the more excited about getting these tracks done. We don't know if our songs from yesterday are o.k. or not yet, but we'll keep you posted, if all goes well, we'll be back at the studio to finish up. Please keep us in your prayers, for the completion of the tracks and album, and our producer too, Alan, his father in law is in the hospital right now with a broken neck...
