It was my 30th Birthday yesterday ~ and I don't feel any older, or different ... k, actually, that last part is a bit of a lie.
I do feel different, but not in the way that I expected myself too.
I spent my Birthday in San Diego, out to dinner with some friends from San Diego Church, it was really fun, a "girls night out" sort of. I forgot my camera (roar) so I didn't get any pics of the restaurant, which was COMPLETELY cool. But we did snap some pics of the "after party" (k, I know that was cheesy) Andy (who WAS in fact a pastry chef) made me this cake that was truly AMAZING. (and probably very fattening, so I'm not thinking about that part) and we stayed overnight and stayed up till 3:30 a.m. chatting and playing "Uno-Stacko" (which was pretty challenging, but I can safely say, yes, i did hold my own against Andy)
Yesterday (which was my actual Birthday) we hung out with the "Mac's" and then went to Seven24 and worshipped ~ and then came home.
Which brings me to today. =)
I've been working like nuts (but have gotten myself caught up rather nicely) so today I'll be tying up loose ends, and packing and (of course) doing laundry (sigh).
But back to my earlier comment, which will lead into the next comment ~ I do "feel" different being 30. And it's not a bad different, which is what I had expected to feel. Rather, I feel much more like almost "grown-up" but, again, not in a bad way: (like, oh, man, I'm all grown up -- pout pout, my youth is slipping away forever!! etc.) but I sort of feel like I'm right at the edge of the rest of my life. Like my 20's were some large, youthful, self-centered mountain and now I'm right at the top, peering into this large sunlit terrain which is the rest of my days. It's like, all the time I spent dreading "growing old" was just a folly and now, on the true edge of my "adult life" I can really start to change and make a difference and BE who I'm supposed to be. Like the training wheels are off and God's like "O.K. ... now Go"
I find all these thoughts particularly interesting on the eve of my trip back "home" (which really isn't my home) to Canada. And all the thoughts and feeling's I'll experience going back and visiting and seeing how some things have changed, (prob. lots of things) and others have just stayed the same.
I'm excited to see everyone, and really too for Break Forth (which happens the last weekend I'm there) I'm expecting a "turning-point" in my life. And I can hardly wait.
See y'all in Canada ~
love, a.

(Me and Laura, hanging out)
(The Great "Uno-Stacko" challenge, that went on for hours ... andy is just being silly, he really doesn't look this ridiculous all the time)
