(almost the) weekend update with Amy H.
This week though has been filled with some highlights ;)
On Tuesday evening Jay and I recorded a little "lullaby" for a certain someone's 1st birthday ... as a surprise and a gift to Laura and Andy ... (so Andy, if you DO read this before the day PLEASE do not mention anything to Laura!!) I was going to post it up here, and still want to BUT the company that was hosting my website and FTP has had a "meltdown" and has lost everything ... soooo, I don't currently have a website or FTP to speak of. (if anyone knows a good co. please pass it along) anyways, the song was a most definite highlight of the week for me, and I've been listening to it at work =) it makes me happy.
Wednesday eve. we acoustically jammed at our house with John, and I have to admit, I feel out of practice. Seems we've taken such a long "band-break" that things feel rusty and all the momentum from our last show in Sept. seems to have dwindled ... BUT I am working on getting our demo out and I am going to start calling clubs and venues all over this area to hook up some more shows. Between you and I, I AM a slight bit apprehensive about this, since I've never had to do this before, and I'm not sure what exact to do. So, maybe you can pray about this for me?
Yesterday evening was a picture perfect night, of which i took NO pictures (haha). I got off work early (Jay had the day off) so we walked the beach and watched an amazing sunset (!!!)
-- if I could try to describe it; there is a certain "look" the ocean gets at this time of year, when the Santa-Ana dessert winds are blowing out to sea. The air is unusually warm and dry and kisses the skin, and the ocean looks like a translucent, irridecent mirrored flat-cathedral. The water literally glows and looks like blue glass and as the sun dipps down and elongates into it's watery bed, it's simply breath-taking. The sky gets this crazy peach, than orange, than red horizon line and the ocean continues to glow lighter than the sky that contains it long after the sun has gone. It was one of those nights. --
Jay and I went to our fav. Mexican restaurant (Norte!) and had the BEST nachos' EVER and then walked home. I didn't even wear a jacket.
So, all in all, I am glad it's the weekend, even though the week was nothing to complain about. Jay is taking his motorcycle license course and I think I'll do some painting and cleaning ... and maybe a wee-bit of shopping. I think I may do some soul-searching on the guitar as well.
Overall a good week -- hope you all had the same =)
Till Next blog ~ a.
