California is a wonderful place to live, in fact, I would almost say that the weather here is darn near perfect -- if you can stand the possibility of the earth moving under your feet every once in a while and the fire seasons, you're set.

This is the view from my window right now.

It looks kind of like an eerie atom bomb but it's a brush fire burning in our nearby Army base ... there is no threat to homes as of yet, but the Santa Ana's are on their way as of this weekend. Which (fast forward to last october on this blog and you'll see why it's a bit like walking through a room full of glass) But, we take it as it comes.

It's been a good couple of weeks. I had a VERY good and most relaxing weekend and got back to the roots of myself -- I spent alot of time praying and singing and playing piano and guitar. My mom's asked me to make her a worship CD of my playing and singing some of my favourite songs, so I've been working on that. It's going to be totally ghetto-recorded (ie -- not very good quality, just on our little "H2" hand recorder, but the sound isn't terribly bad) It's been a wonderful experience, and I dare say, I'm starting (JUST starting) to get slightly competant at playing the piano! I better watch that statement, as there are some NIFtY piano players in the Huzil family that would hold me to that word in an instant ;)

Tonight Jay is downtown (San Diego) watching an "epic" show (Yngwie Malmsteen, for those who know ... ) with some of his work buddies so I am alone. Listening to the ocean outside my window, sipping on some Raspberry tea, eating the last of the fuzzy peaches my mom brought down for me (thank you mom!!) and just reflecting on the weeks.

With all the stuff happening with our band, we've been offered two more gigs, but have been unable to play them due to scheduling, but we're working on more stuff for Dec. And our demo is almost done. As soon as it is we're going to be sending it to clubs in the hopes of booking gigs and also hopefully radio stations too. I'm making a press-pack of sorts and we need to work on a bio .. .which is proving a bit tough. But I'm not worried. In the end I guess it's just music. And I have to be willing and let go of my dreams so that God can be in control. It's scary when He's not ... and sometimes you don't even notice.

Life can get so crazy sometimes. And it's never easy. I'm glad I can have some alone time -- it feels good to be quiet.

Here are some interesting pictures you might enjoy -- I did =)

Two snails literaly "kissing". I saw them one morning when I was coming in from my jog and had to grab my camera ... they are making snail babies!!! and that's good, cause I stepped on one by accident today at work and felt pretty bad.

This is my favourite picture of me and mom from when she came down last month -- I can't believe it's almost been 1 month since she's been here!! This is at sunset cliffs in San Diego the day she flew home. I have it up at my work in my cubical ;)

A flower shot from the botanical gardens.

Till next one!

love, a.
