It's been a very busy 10 or so days -- we've just finished a visit with Jaci this last week, which was really good, but honestly felt a bit under-rated, I wish we could have spent more time with her, but with work for both of us and no times off, it was hard -- but it was a good visit. We dropped Jaci and Jay's Dad off at the airport this a.m. and had sort of a quiet drive back

In all honesty I've had a rough week and a rather anti-climatic-feeling weekend, and I'm having trouble feeling "Christmassy" at all. There is no snow here (obviously), none of the tell-tale signs of "Christmas in North America" (snow, christmas music, buying and wrapping gifts, baking, the feel-goodish feelings of peace on earth and good will to man) for some reason all those things are elluding me at present

Rather I feel overworked -- AT JC inparticluar (my supervisor has taken an extra week, and perhaps even more, so all the stuff is falling on me, and keeping me non-stop, not too mention my freelance, which has had to fall by the wayside while I focus on the work that's paying me the $$) but I keep telling myself I can handle things. I'm watching good friends of mine go through some tough things, and being away from family at this time of year, has me in a funk. I guess I'm sorry this update sounds depresssing, but it's my state of mind at present

to focus on the good things, I can now look back at our show last Thursday and be at peace about it. I was not overly enthused with it all all after the fact, truth be told, it was a let-down, and the hardest performance we've had to date (not that there's been alot, but i hope this one is not a sign of things to come) the venue just wasn't "right", most of the people there left as we started to play, and I'm not even sure that the talent buyer guy WAS infact there, the promoter paid us $20 (yah, the whole band) and I haven't heard from her since, so I'm just kind of left wondering, what the heck?? The highlights of the show: The fact that Jays' Dad and Jaci got to see us play live, infact, I would say that's the best part about the whole things) also, we did also get some photos from Peter Carney (who did our band photo shoot) and also Kristin, who is John's (the bass players) girlfriend - she has a wonderful eye and to top it off, she's an absolute sweetheart and kind soul -- not too mention supportive of John and his playing in the band with us, which I really appreciate.

Also this week, infact yesterday, we had my work Christmas party, which was fun but a bit strange for me, but I did let loose on the dance floor a wee bit (yah, and I don't even need drinks, it just happens) I'm sure I will hear about it tomorrow, but I really don't care.

I'll leave you with some photos from when Jaci was here, hopefully this week will be better than the last.

Till Next Blog ~ love a.

The family went for dinner to our fav. restaurant in Carlsbad Village, I did Jaci's hair and makeup for the event.

Jaci and I hanging on "our" beach the first Saturday of the trip.

A cute "half-family" portrait from Ken's hotel room in San Diego, before they flew home.

hi hon,
i'm really sorry the show wasn't what you were hoping for. i kind of guessed, since i didn't hear back from you about it...i'm so sorry. that being said, you got some great photos and i'm so glad that jaci and her dad could be there. don't let this one event discourage you... keep persevering. you guys are so talented--it's just about finding your niche, right? keep trusting, keep praying, keep hoping. i love you so much. i know jaci is a very lucky girl to have you as a sister in law. and i'm so lucky to have you as a friend.

please take some time for yourself, to do some christmas baking and to write some songs. love you so much. em.
