I'm not sure exactly where my mind is at present.

I have had a wonderful and sort of "debrief-ish" last couple of weeks. I've finished up some large freelance projects, continued to fall into the grooves of JC and all that entails. My personal life feels at present always busy but good. I guess it's a good rut to be in.

Of course alot of things have been happening outside of my life as well. Last week we were all "allowed" downstairs to our lunch room to watch the inauguration of President Obama, and I watched (among the absolute throngs of people in Washington and all over) American History unfold itself. I also watched a gentleman in front of me (African American) crying and wiping his eyes, which struck me much more than watching the president himself.

I guess I have an interesting perspective on things ... being a Canadian in America I did not grow up with segregation, nor the racial politics and strife that this nation has endured and is now trying slowly to diminish. The weight of this presidency for me (keeping in mind I am MUCH more spiritual than political) will sort of be more of: what will he do for this nation, with so very many issues and economic hardship, what will Obama actually DO for America -- is hope in a new administration enough for people? Or will his future actions speak louder than his words ... will they even align with his words at all?

It reminds me even more so too, that I do not put too much hope, or faith in politics, in leaders, rulers (kings of our days) ... and I don't know Obama's heart, he seems like a good guy, but I wrestle with the fact that so many people put so much hope, faith and their strength in this politician. If the general populous put that much energy into faith into the Living God, into changing their world, helping the poor, loving their neighbor -- what a world we would have!

Alright, enough of that topic for me!! Seriously, it's just been on my mind, so now it's out there.

Jay and I are excitedly planning for a summer trip up to Canada, to visit and collect our last things and bring them down. We've decided to drive up and swing by the Grand Canyon on our way up ... maybe even Yellowstone. I love to bathe in the natural wonders and beauty of this continent!! The dates are looking like July 23rd to Aug 6th ... we'll see what happens between now and then, but I am so glad that we're not flying, because I really don't fancy being up in the air in a tin can.

I'll try to write again soon =)

i totally agree with you.. while i respect obama, he's not the saviour everyone's wanting him to be. no politican CAN be. we make the government our crutch so we can avoid the responsibility of changing the world ourselves. it's very sad. anyway, we can be praying that obama's faith inspires the nation to get on its knees. can't wait to see you in a few months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! e.
