My American Rants ... and other things

So, right now I feel like my toes are burning from being stuck in high heeled shoes ... (just thought I'd share!!) But down to business! I have a couple fun stories to share ...

My first experience with the American Health Care system ...

two Friday's ago I went to a family clinic ... waited for about an hour ... paid my "copay of $15" ... went into the doctors office (waited another 20 mins or so) saw said doctor (who stepped out to answer a cellphone call in the middle of my appt.) got lab work and a prescription, got scheduled for a "follow-up" appt. the following Friday. Showed up said following Friday ... waited another 40 mins ... paid my "co-pay of $25" for my second visit ... waited another 1/2 in the doctors office to find out that my lab never got the results to my doctor, they don't know what's wrong with me and would I like to make another appointment ... well, no, I just wasted my time AND money to find out this overly valuable information, I'll call the doctor back myself. Monday rolls around, I call said doctor for my results ... still not in ... they'll call me back ... I call THEM back at the end of day, they got the results back, everything is negative (which is funny, cause the medication treated something ... soooo ... but negative, o.k.) so nothing is wrong with me? ... no ... o.k. thanks then. Fast forward to last Thursday ... my doctors office calls me ... they have the results from my lab in (oh really, WOW! thanks! gee!!) the results are negative (really?? thanks for letting me know) would I like to schedule an appoitment with the doctor to discuss if I'm not feeling better??? No, never, but thanks.
We are looking for another doctor.

My first experience paying American Taxes.
I sat down on this past Saturday and did my Canadian AND American taxes ... ofcourse we owe the IRS (go figure) ... big sigh. See, the American's dont' deduct an exact amount of any kind from your paycheck, you tell THEM what you want them to take off ... so, we didn't tell them to take off enough and now we owe them $1300+ dollars ... it's a darn good thing we have a savings account otherwise I'd be feeling a bit under pressure right now!

Otherwise, life is good, the weather here has been stellar the last couple days, so much so that Sunday was a beach day in the sun. And if you all get around to it, a local radio station here is running a contest for local bands (which I've entered our's into) it's kind of a popularity contest, so it's based on votes, so (here is where I ask you to vote for us) ... please feel free to click on the link: (http://www.91x.com/hardrock/) scroll down and VOTE for us =) (and then tell your friends to vote for us!!) We could go to London (but it'll be a battle between 4 local bands at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown first) Otherwise, band stuff is going well!! We have two shows in May ... and we're playing Easter at our church, will be rad.

That's life for us right now!!! Till Next Blog!
love a.
