I think I might be crazy ...

I'm day two into the Daniel Fast, WHILE starting P90X at the same time ... so far I'm feeling pretty good, a bit less energy at certain points in the days but pretty good ... I keep having to remind myself I am still recovering from being sick last week, so maybe this all isn't such an amazing idea ... but the fast part so far is really good.

P90X is a challenge!! But it's a good one -- I am sore and working myself hard, but I feel good about it inside. The best part about it, is I am doing it with 3 other girls from work, so we text each other in the mornings and encourage each other to finish -- it's great community to be able to do it together.

Yesterday we started the Daniel fast by praying and seeking God's forgivness ... kind of like coming to the heavenly father and admitting our sins and asking for a clean heart so that as we fast and pray our prayers can be heard.

Today's reading was about idolatry. Basically, anything that could come in the way of our relationship with God ~ we lay it on the alter and put God back in His rightful place upon the throne of our hearts.  I suppose for everyone it's different, and as I began to reflect and think upon what idols might look like for me I saw myself.

Now this might seem weird, afterall,  we are at constant war with our flesh, and I guess, when you really look at it, we are our own idols all the time.  For me, it's my self image (caring too much? loathing what I cannot change? spending my energies and my monies on it) so maybe I need to fast from some of those things too, or at least change my attitudes towards it.  We so often make idols of our bodies and really, they just disintegrate and die. We are fighting a losing battle my friends.

"All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever" ~ 1 Peter 1:24

So, what am I saying with this?  in doing P90X I wanted to challenge myself, feel good and look good in the process.  But I think the deal with me, is I need to look at it as preparing myself for what is next in life (band? running around on stage and singing, I really want to be able to do that ;) ) and mission. I am preparing my physical body for endurance and I need to be careful to never idolize it because it will fall, fail me and fade and ultimately my life will end.

Sobering

Dear Lord, today as I meditate on your words of TRUE life, may I be released from the bondage of this worlds standards for what makes a woman beautiful.  May I place you rightly on the throne of my life. and continue to surrender every morning to your goodness, your mercies and your true love.
In Jesus Name I pray ~ Amen

Till next blog! love a.
