Yesterday I had a scare of internet proportions ~ I was working away on some freelance stuff ... getting myself in-shape for the very busy and long feeling week. I was sending some emails and all of a sudden, the email quit working ... my password was no longer valid ... not a huge deal, I went to Gmail to try to reset ~ and I got this message that said that my account had been compromised because of suspicious activity (weird) so I reset than went to my home page (which is my, our, beloved blog) and there was nothing there.
I'm not even kidding.
There was a generic "blogger" page that read: " This blog has been removed. The name (my blog name), is no longer available for use. And that's all she wrote.
I refreshed the page a couple times, cause I couldn't believe what I was seeing, but same message every time. I started to panic, and get pretty angry. I mean this is like 5 years of our lives!! Pictures, stories, songs, our lives, just vanished and "removed" from the internet?? How is that possible? and yet it was. I was livid that we could just be "removed" like that. and I was frantic to get the blog back. Of course, there is no "contact us" button, so after some digging I found a forum where all I could do was post a question and hope to heck that someone, anyone would get back to me ...
It took about 20 mins (all the while I was not impressed) and then, almost mysteriously, our blog reappeared. Seems no harm done.
It does kind of weird me out though. I didn't realize how much I had become attached to our blog, all the things we've shared, stories, pictures, our lives, memories(!!). I am thankful for technology, but it does come with a price. It can be gone in an instant. Vanished. Removed.
Almost like death I suppose.
I am glad we're back online, up and running and I don't think I'll be taking for granted my "freedom of web-speech" now, anytime soon. Thank you for continuing to read!!
Till Next Blog ~
love, a.
Hope and Beyond
There has been a lot of emotion for me the last couple days ~ it's hard to describe to someone who doesn't understand. After finding out that my dad that I've never known, is alive and has been looking for me, and after being found by a half sister -- worlds just are not the same. The very person who's lack of presence has had a mighty hand in shaping the person that I am, is now is this strange half-shadow that is almost within reach, but still not accessible. My heart wants to scream sometimes (a messy mixture of fear, frustration and joy) but I know that I need to give him the space that he needs. It's all so very messy this life, this love. God has been the only father's love I have known -- but as I believe that God is creating great healing and restoration to my dad's soul and mine as well. I described this way to a good friend of mine: It's like your life is this little house, with all these windows letting in light, and you know these w...
