God is Good

So this blog may be a bit of a surprise for some, but the time is now to share.

Jay and I had decided a while back (actually, officially after we finished our taxes and lamented paying the govt. thousands, again) that we wanted to start our elusive house hunt again.  It had been almost 2 years (!) since we last had tried and gotten burnt and given up. But I felt it in my bones that I really wanted to try again. (sounds a bit like trying for a baby, lol)

So we started again, using a different realtor this time. Looking through many, many houses online, in our price range, left quite a bit to be desired.  We decided after viewing a house in Oceanside (which in my mind, I had thought was perfect, till we found out that less than 75 days ago the neighborhood had experienced a homicide, multiple assaults and theft,) that maybe trying to find a Condo in Carlsbad, closer to work and what we know, would be better.

We went out on Sunday looking with our realtor at 4 different properties.  We had gone through the first three with no real winner and some def. losers and were coming out of the third when our realtor asked us if we might want to go view the open house, advertised across the street.  We thought, no harm done. Let's do it.

We got to the place, very fancy and found out that it was (of course) above our price range, but were informed from the realtor that there was another open house in the complex, a smaller 2 bedroom unit, listed at 249 900 (completely within our price range).  So we piled over.

This is where God just began to show Himself to me.  Because, He is good all the time, even when things seem bad, but sometimes, He just reaches down and gives you this big sloppy father kiss—that was what this was.

The place had "us" all over it.  From the moment we walked in, I knew, I can't even explain it, I just KNEW that this was our home.  It had recently been redone and tho it didn't have a garage, it was perfect in every other way.  (a brief description) : Brand new Slate flooring throughout the home. Granite Wood Burning fireplace.  The kitchen and both bathrooms also had been redone with granite and quartz (in the kitchen) counters.  The patio area even has a little palm tree.  The whole vibe of the home was very much just like us ... we knew we wanted to write on it.

We wrote our initial offer on Sunday night, 245,500, including closing costs and then waited.  On Monday they countered our offer, putting the price to 247,000 and making us pay closing (somewhat worrisome, since all my funds are in Canada and I would have to wire them down), but we wanted it so much, it's so perfect, and so unexpected, we agreed.

So, Tues, I waited ... and waited ... thinking, either way, if God blessed us with this, that was already sooo much from His hands I would be joyful, but if not, and it was so good, then He must have something incredibly better for us, or at least better insight and I should just trust. And so I did.

Yesterday I got THE email from our realtor:
"CONGRATULATIONS!  On your offer being accepted. "

And I cried.  I cried for joy, (really cried) which I'm really not sure I've ever done before.  I couldn't believe at first.  But God had made a way.  And here is how amazing and timely our God is:

So, another condition of the offer is a "Good Faith" payment (basically a deposit to Escrow) in the amount of $4000.  Which I wasn't even sure we had.  But yesterday I received a check from a client for $1000. And TODAY I checked our bank account and we have also received our tax refund from the feds, an extra $1700 ... and now we have our $4000.  You tell me that's not the goodness of God.

I get stirred within my spirit just thinking about it.  And I'm sorry this post has been so long ... but I really wanted to share all the details, esp. since Real Estate is in the family and a lot of these details will mean much.

So now we begin the lengthy process of inspections and apraisals and other stuff.  Please pray with me that we get the money from Canada in time and without hassle and that all details are taken care of... and here is a link to the place ... (note, the realtor had taken the shots with a reeeeely wide angle lens, so it looks a lot bigger than it actually is, 1000 sq ft).

Till Next Blog!
love, a.
