365 Footsteps

Image
One step for every day of the year ... It's also the number of steps it takes me, from my doorstep, to another "doorstep" This morning I went to experience the sunrise by the ocean ... I want there to be many more =) The scene was breath-taking, I was the only on on the beach (until a lone-surfer went out about 1/2 hour later) I just stood and looked out over the crashing waves and watched the ocean turn from it's murky/blue black to the shining dawn-lit silver of 7:00 a.m. Our little place is pretty amazing. It's ALOT larger than our last apt. in Point Loma, and the way the rooms are laid out, it feels more like a house than an apt. There are bits and pieces that are older (it's prob. around the same age as Point Loma bldg.) but the appliances are newer (by ALOT) there is fresh paint and carpet and it's clean and the view, wonderfully peaceful. I sort of feel like a new part of our life down here has begun. Perhaps even a bit of "settling" in. ...

Well, we are getting ready once again to move our butts. Thurs. we will be moving up to Carlsbad (30miles from here) We will be living on the ocean's doorstep. We will be loving it But There are parts of this area that I will miss. There is a certain "Point Loma charm" which will (hopefully) be replaced with "Carlsbad Charm". I have really no idea what to expect. I've made all the calls I'm supposed to have made. I just need to pack (again, seriously, it doesn't even phase me really at this point) Perhaps we are destined to a life of nomadic transitions, from one place to the next, not necessarily knowing, not caring ... just wandering, purposefully, this planet. I made the choice as well, to step down from singing and leading (if it can be called that) @ SDC. This was practical~It had really become pretty impossible for me to get there. It was a hard choice though ~ but through it all, I do have good memories. I sort of feel very relieved in a sense...

I FEEL ...

I've been waiting to write about the subject of this particular blog since we've moved here. To quote a classic Carol King song: "I feel the earth move under my feet" ~ except to be completely accurate, I'd have to say, I felt the earth and our building move under my bum this morning at 7:45 as I sat with Jay drinkin' our coffee's. We felt our FIRST EARTH QUAKE!!!!!!!!!!! Really it felt like our building was on poles and was shaking and lightly jerking around us for about 5 sec's ... prob. not even that long, in fact, we actually just thought it was our building moving on it's foundations (settling?), but on the news tonight it was confirmed. One of the strangest unexpected facts about an earthquake? You can HEAR them coming. Jay and I simply thought an airplane was flying over our house (since we live on the flight path) when we felt the tremor, but later we realized the sound was the vibrations rumbing towards us. The quake measured 4.2 and was ...

So, for those who have been praying with us for a place -- WE GOT IT!!! (rejoice!) Here is a map of where we will be living in Carslbad, the place is pretty retro (like this one) but with NO consistent noise, construction or hassle. The rent is a little more than we'd like, but hey -- we're living on Love and Prayer baby! We'll make it! Jay's drive to work will now be a quick 10 min drive, on NO freeways, so, anyways, just wanted to share that ~ when we get down there with our camera I'll snap a tone of photos, for now, it's just getting ready to pack that'll be the excitement. I'll keep y'all posted on other haps, as soon as details show themselves (re: my US status stuff) Oh, and Ed was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is resting at his sister's place until my mom gets back from Toronto next week. Love and Hugs!

Update, and an "UP-DATE"

My step-dad/mom's husband Ed came through his surgery on Friday well, he's breathing on his own and will soon be discharged from the hospital to stay with his Sister for recovery --- I know many people have been praying for us, so thanks sooo much! Means more than you know. Also, Jay and I should hear back today, we put an application into a little place in Carlsbad, it's called Ocean Street Apt's, and true to the name, it's right beside the ocean. It's really cool, I'm trying NOT to get too excited, just in case, but if we do get approved, it'll be "on the blog" and I'll post some photos and share some more ... ------------------------------ On a different (an more uplifting note) I had my first "crop" of pottery completed on Sunday. For those who don't know, David (who used to work with Jay @ Old Time music, before he got transferred up to Buffalo Bros. in Carlsbad) is my Pottery Teacher. He is a Californian/Los Angeles nati...

Ed's Song

My mom's husband is in the hospital right now having triple by-pass surgery, and I was thinking about how many people I know, who are suffering health issues, and how we so desperately need the healing touch of God, (in a variety of ways). So, I was playing the guitar and this song came out, a song for healing and for Ed, who I am praying is in good hands and getting well every minute. http://www.inspiredcreativity.net/SEAmediapage/Eds%20song.mp3 love, a. ---------------------------- ps ~ here are the lyrics: I don't know what to say I just pray be with me now holy one be with us now Gods' only son how can we keep bright our light surrounded by night though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will not fear for you are near you are near I don't know what to say I just pray heal us now beautiful hands heal all of us now by your power your mighty hands pour holy oil restore restore ...

Hanging onto life by a three corded rope

I went to a wedding once, (I'm pretty sure it wasn't mine) where the pastor spoke about rope. How, as we go through life with our spouse, we are intertwined with our partner, in the fashion of a rope. The rope is somewhat o.k., but rather shaky and easily undone by pressure. However, if we were interlocked and braided with Christ, as we went through life, we would be stronger in the face of any circumstances, because we have woven God into our chain of life. I don't know why I've never forgotten that ananlogy, but I can safely say that I am certainly thinking of it today. Today, I felt like a bomb went off in my life, and after the commotion, I am still, hanging on. Now, I could be slighly melodramatic, but here's the situation: I have been trying to nurse to health a certain problem of the feminine kind, for the last three days, in the hopes that I will NOT have to go to the doctor here and have to spend over $100 on the visit and treatment (I'm not kidding, ...
