Altering my World

Image
(Painting by Emily Wierenga) So, I get pretty bored at work sometimes, when there is very little to keep me hands busy, today I googled my name ( Amy Huzil ) and I also googled my ... well, sort of screen name (?) which I'm thinking of making my "stage name" (what people who hear our music will know me as) Ammee Pearl and the following post came up first. This was penned by my dear friend Emily (who at the time was in Korea teaching English, but who now lives outside of Toronto w/ her husband, and is a freelance writer). I read the words, which I had so long forgotten, and sitting here in my little cubical, I almost started to cry ... and I think because I had forgotten pieces of who I am, or at least, I'd laid them aside some. It's so easy to forget what God has called you to do. And the reason I am so passionate about this right now, is this ... (I kid you not) Today at lunch I went outside and sat (I usually do) I have this corner of the parking lot th...

I'm feeling "Ecclesiastic"

This is going to be a personal-bummer blog. (just a disclaimer) I can always tell when I am beginning to PMS -- the littlest things begin to annoy, frustrate and downright demote my attitude to the point where I wish I could run and hide from all aspects of life and just "be" -- without having to worry about anything, namely, OUT of the present situation that accounted for the particular mess in the first place. I had one (many) of those incidents today. And I guess it simply makes me look back at myself and wonder about life and what could be, or couldn't. Today, work frustrated me. And it wasn't the "work" part of it (although, that right now is getting hairy) I was feeling the beginnings of overwhelmation (is that a word -- if not, I just made it up, people) because I am in the middle of 3 HUGE deadlines and I forgot my jump drives today (yep, all of them) so that sort of hinders what I can do at work and what I can't. So, I've had one job all da...

Turbo Update

Image
I Need to do a turbo-type update =) I've been so busy lately, with work and work (at night) that I just haven't had a chance to do any blogging and it sucks!!!! So, I'm going to try to catch up with everything. I guess busy is the key word for life lately. Working at JC is getting better. I've had a serious attitude adjustment and that has been good ... it's amazing how our hearts can sabotage our spirits. There is a verse in the Bible somewhere that says "a man's heart is deceitful above all things, who can know it" and boy is that true. I've really had to focus on the fact that I have nothing to complain about, and everything to be thankful for. Speaking of being thankful -- besides the long hours, (I'm in the middle of county stuff, so I've been trying to keep track of 65 advertisers as they send me their things, plus Break Forth, plus Living Light News) Our building has Birds! Now, the reason why I find this a "thankful" i...

Pansies and Paintings

Image
Well hello to everyone =) I know it's been a while (I think I'm begining to start all my blogs this way!) I feel like time just really flies now ... I don't know if it's a "getting older" thing or just a busyness thing ... at any rate, it's been about a week and a half I guess. We had the American "May-Long" weekend last weekend, and I completely did EVERYTHING I always want to do, work out, sing, worship, paint, chill ... just relax. On Saturday I talked to my mom, who is planting her garden right now, and was trying to explain the flowers around here. So, this picture is for her and our conversation, which revolved around pansies (mom bought some pansies, cause she said they reminded her of me =)) On Saturday I also ventured to the art supply store that we have by our house. It's conveniently located right beside my most favourite (note Canadian spelling) fair trade/organic food store : Trader Joes. (moment of reflection). I hadn't real...

An Amazing Weekend

Image
This weekend was truly a blessed one. We tripped down to San Diego on Saturday (I went early on the train) for Andy and Laura's housewarming/birthday parties (Laura's birthday is our Anniversary -- April 29, Andy's is exactly one month later -- May 29th). Mira is getting soooo BIG! 6 months old, and getting bigger and chubbier every time we see her! (Laura cutting the Birthday Cake) (The "Girls", Erin, Laura and Me, ofcourse) (Spending some quality time with Mira in the morning -- I think this photo looks like Jay and Mira are having a meaningful conversation) (Jay affectionately calls this shot "His Entourage", hangin' with Caper and Mira) We spent the night and the next day toured around our "old stompin grounds" in Point Loma (where we lived when we first came down) We went to Sunset Cliffs and had a picnic on the rocks and enjoyed the view ... and the amazing blessings that have come our way -- Wonderful Friends, a beautiful place to li...
