And, so here's the update....

Well, it's been a ridiculously busy week for me =( ... Today I woke up and in the beginnings of my day before my eyes opened, I literally thought it was Saturday ... only to realize about 2 mins later it was actually Friday and I would have to go to work and slave one more day before my weekend! No fear. I made it to work and am now running out the clock. (shhhhh, don't tell anyone) This weekend will be a bit weird cause Jay is going to a bachelor party in Las Vegas, leaving tomorrow morning (I know, before everyone freaks out, I am trusting Jay completely, and the guys he's going with are a bit on the nerdy side, so, I'm not anticipating there being any trouble ... cross my fingers and pray.) It does leave me with a weekend ALL to myself, WITH our car no less ... so this little world is my oyster for the next two days ... I'm really hoping to do some song writing and catch up on work (whoo hoo, I know) but I may drive down to Encinitas tomorrow and take in a coffe...

Alabaster jars and Fathers' Day

Image
"6While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, 7a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. 8When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. 9"This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor." 10Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her." Matthew 26:6-12 I turned to this today and found myself meditating on some of the words being used in this passage. This woman (who is described in other books (Luke) as "a sinful w...
We did not get the house -- another CASH offer bumped us (picture of me sticking my tougue out and blowing profusely followed by a sad laugh .. .then sigh) Till next blog. a.

(I don't often write "poetry" on this blog ... but this one I wanted to share. I was sitting in our bedroom at sunset tonight getting ready to work, and these thoughts came) ----------------------- waves the sound -- only faint crashes against my ear the low steady rush of a thousand million miles of water coming to rest on our sandy steps forward, momentum, babbling bubbles wash and receed and kiss my feet clouds blue grey billows that cascade across the sky flowing, changing, resting and reshaping forever in a blessed cycle of freezing, motion, falling as liquid life they slowly churn across my sky with hints of pink and golden crowning their unseen kingdoms of imagined splendor changing every hour the sun stretches tired across it's own canvas muted gold and dusty pink melting and falling over everything it sees colors, constantly changing as it leaks and streams through the holes in the dark blue blanket that covers this ocean I watch the sky being painted a new c...
ok, ok, I KNOW it's been a Looooong time since I wrote! (is it me or do I start these blogs the same way now?) at any rate ... let's dive right in =) Jay and I have been looking at houses now for almost a month. .. we wrote one offer a couple weeks ago which was overthrown by another, all CASH (I think I may have mentioned) so, it was back to the board. We've written another offer since and are still waiting to hear back. I'm trying really hard not to be anxious, and some days are way better than others. Mostly, I find this whole experience a big walk of faith that God's got everything under control. Since we are walking in a situation where clearly we have NO control whatsoever, it is a tedious and seemingly unfair market for us. I have been praying about this place, I believe our offer is pretty strong, (it will MAX us out) but the banks have literally set the stages for bidding wars, where the highest/best offer takes the prize. In an economy where they seem to...

I have had a VERY full week.

My freelance is kicking into high gear again, and once again, I am amazed that I can continue to work full time and keep up appearances on the other front. But I am truly blessed, and even in these busy times, it's then that I feel it in my heart. Our show @ Dreamstreet went very well, some pics (courtesy Kristin, John's beautiful girl) are attached to this post. It was def. the most fun I've had on stage to date, but we did get a Live recording from the club and listening back to it, there are things to improve upon (If I'm being hard and professional with myself) Overall, a very good time. We ventured out house hunting again with our "Realtor Joe" (that' what he has on his license plate). He's a younger guy (for a realtor, our age) but pretty sharp and literally emails or calls us almost every day with properties to consider or drive to to look at. We're begining to get a really good idea of what we like and don't like, but nothing really has...
Sometimes God kicks you in the butt. And it's always a good thing! I've had one of those weeks (the beginning of mine anyways) where I was super self-pity mode ... and I guess now that I think of it, my last blog was pretty self-pity-ish. Jay got "slightly miffed" with my whole "not wanting to be old and barren" statement, and to my defense, it was NOT referring to having children, though I would love to one day soon, but more to my life, not being what I perceive as "amounting to nothing". In the middle of this week I was referred to a website/sermon of sorts, which completely altered my preception of my life as I know it, or rather, it was God, kicking me in the butt. I don't know about you, but one of the chief things in a Christians life is to imitate Christ. To try the absolute best we can to be like Him, because He was the one true God, in physical, on this earth. But I myself get so wrapped up in trying to "seek" the will of G...
