Oct 30th

at first it's a whisper a shimmer a shadow tinges of deep magenta soak the cloak of dark that's held the earth's side in sleep then unassuming slowly waking unlike each morning before dawn stretches her pink and orange fingers of light across the sky bathing everything in an unearthy soft silky glow and I at my window take a moment from my morning from the day and the thoughts that now race unbridled never seeming to cease the busy-ness which has become my life -- is forced to sit in the corner and appreciate God's good gift that everyday is a new day and this beauty that I see before me is His handy-work a refection of His light, His life is greatness and my smallness and as the morning fades from pink to yellow to frozen blue hues and the rush and clutter come running back in like a broken damn that could only hold onto this precious moment for a short few moments I will try to carry this in my heart ~ for this day, till the sun sets my eyes close and I wake tomorrow ...

Indirectly ofcourse -- check out the below link -- the interview with Valerie features my design work in the background -- the "Surviving the Holidays" logo on the banner =) pretty nice, I got my autographed copy of the booklet today too ... which I admit is a bit anti-climatic ... http://www.people.com/people/ if you scroll down, it's the "people TV" section. Just wanted to share ;) more of a blog coming later this week ~ love, a.

(Cover of my latest project @ JC, where I got to handle all the art direction, custom illustrations throughout -- including a caricature of Val herself ... there's more about it below -- as well as some of the writing, I'd venture to say it's one of my most fantastic projects to date) ;) Oh, it's been fast times at our home these days =) The last couple weeks has been a constant whir of activity. This last weekend here was a long weekend, like I guess it was in Canada too, except ours was celebrating Columbus Day, and was pretty much almost like any other Monday. This weekend though was a trying one for me in particular, for a number of reasons, a couple which I'll get into and a few which I won't ... We played our first Sunday at the church plant, and I guess, un-officially lead things ... though between you and I (and Jay) it was in short the WORST worship experience I have ever had in a church. The plant is held in a school building, that mostly resembles...

First ever post by text!

So, I thought I'd try my hand at posting quick from my phone ... Mostly to see if I could really do it! So this will def be short . I've been sick with a cold thing for the past couple days pretty bad, and had a horrible sleep last night , I'm hoping to make up fo it very soon ... We have our first practice with the new church on Thursday and jay has been busy recording guitar scratch tracks for the album . There is more to share but I'd rather type it tomorrow :) just really wanted to see if I could pull off a blog by iPhone :). Success! Till next blog! Love a.

(Picture taken on our new iPhones ... waiting before our last show at the Royal Dive) A multitude of things have happened with the California Huzil's this past week since my last post. After (quite an amazing) couple of days of prayer we (Jay and myself) have decided to take the worship leadership position offered to us by the North Oceanside Church Plant (Generation North O'). I feel very much at peace about it and actually super excited, I know it will bring it's challenges for sure, but it will be amazing if we let God do what he desires with that place. I'm not sure how exactly things will unfold, but I lead my last (sniff) children's worship this coming Sunday and then I anticipate we'll be fully incorporated into serving at the other church. I would truly love and appreciate your continued prayer support as we begin this new phase of ministry in our lives. We will need it now more than ever!! We begin tracking scratch tracks for our album (yes, FULL LEN...

An Answer to "Antsy"

The title of this blog alone makes me smile -- but here is the real kicker. I don't know if God answers blogs ... I know He answers prayers, but when I read back over my blog from two weeks ago, it's so apparent that, as I had spilled my hearts cry in words onto a screen and into cyber space, that God heard, and I think he may be answering Here's the situation. We got a call yesterday from James, the current worship leader at the church we go to in South Oceanside. The church plant in North Oceanside (which, if you recall, we were thinking of attending, but then plans fell through because the house situation fell through etc. etc. and nothing more was thought of) has run into some un-tasteful personnel issues of sorts, and they're in a bit of a pinch. To make a long story short, James asked myself (and Jay, he is my other half) if we would be interested in a worship leader/facilitator type position at the North Oceanside Church, in light of the recent events. (Does thi...

(Band photo by Kristin Genna -- taken outside the Royal Dive, Oceanside CA) This past week has been a blurr of activity, I found myself this a.m. getting up at 6 a.m. and just yearning for some time to myself ... I went for a run and didn't even listen to my ipod .. .I just ran and talked to God in prayer and got ready for today. We played a show with the band on Thursday at a local watering hole/dive bar (aptly named the Royal Dive) the owner witnessed our show and was so impressed that he invited us to play again in November and ALSO that Saturday night. We prob. should have said no, but in the event that there would be a good crowd there, we opted to play. (a side note, we also played worship on Sunday at our church, and yes, we were VERY tired) There wasn't a good crowd there ... (Thurs. was a completely different story) just some tables and varying degrees of drunk people mostly, but it was interesting because for the first time, it was really a shitty show, but I'm ki...
