This is a rare glimpse into my "cube" at work ... it will make sense at the end of this post =) I'd like to preface this post by writing that so often, we do live in reverse (so to speak) that "hindsight is 20/20 when it comes to life, and why some things work out and some do not, and some need to wait, while others happen right away. Allow me to explain. Months back Jay and I were excitedly planning for a trip up to Canada, a road trip where we'd be driving up, see the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park and then collect some of the things we had left up in Canada and drive back down. I was SO excited about it, for a couple reasons, of course the fact that we can visit family and friends. It would also just so happen that my good friend Em (who is right now expecting their first long awaited child) would be in Alberta at the same time and we'd be able to visit and spend time. However, THEN came the whole "we can buy a house" deal (or, so w...

I guess life always ebbs and flows. I had lunch today with my friend KT and she said something so profound to me. We were talking about life and circumstance and how both of us sort of feel like we're in a "holding" pattern, like everything in life right now is on hold and just "wait". House situation -- wait Band situation -- wait Work situation -- show up, work really hard, but wait One could get tired of all the apparent, waiting, however, KT told me, in her young wisdom, that life ebbs and flows like that, like waves come flooding into the sand, but then totally retreat, so it seems with life. Every once in a while things will flood in, overflow, and then nothing. Though work for me has been busy, i can't help but sort of feel like and wonder infact, if it's sort of distracting me from some stuff that I should really be focusing on. And then, what that really should be. Jay will be flying up to Canada without me in about a month. I will def. miss him...

Jay on the BBQ vs Amy on a Dinosaur

Jay working' the Grill =) Hamburgers are his favourite right now ... though we're going to try to work up to steaks soon ... Costco, here we come. and this was me last week. I went down to San Diego to hang with Laura and Andy, and ofcourse little Mira ... she's growing SO much!! We went to a park by their home and played on stuff ... it was pretty cool ;)
I am taking the most ginourmous sigh right now. I think I just finished the biggest, MOST RUSHED project ever in my career. The last 3 days, I've been eating, sleeping and breathing a DVD packaging project here @ JC. Literally, photo's were taken last week, text edited on Monday, and my deadline to get the project to production was today @ 3 pm -- so crazy. It was most crazy too because the whole scope of the project (which was the packaging itself, the labels for the CD and DVD and then an 8 page insert/brochure. All full color) was ALL times 2 because there were two versions, Beginner/Intermediate and Intermediate/Advanced ... it was so nuts, but now hopefully the worst is behind me. I'm blogging now because I feel like I have a dead spot in my brain and I can't seem to even focus on anything else. I'll be posting some pics as soon as I get home and get on my camera, but the last two weeks have been busy but wonderful. We went to an amazing beach wedding two weeke...

Independence (Happy) Days ...

My mother-in-law would be VERY proud of me I think ... of course, she prob. won't read this till her and Ken get back from their Europe trip, but today I went to Marshalls (sort of like a Winners, well, pretty much exactly) and bought myself a fine, curvy glass pitcher. I bought the pitcher because tonight I made iced tea. REAL Iced Tea. You know, the "weird" American variety which is really just tea, no sugar added. I've had a hankering for the stuff for a couple days, and actually had made my FIRST batch on July 4th (a nice way to celebrate my own, happy-American-ness). I boiled some water in my small pot (I only have 2, a small one and a large one, seems to be all I need for the time being) and then plopped in two tea bags (a dashing variety of caffeine-free herbal tea called "Tropic of Strawberry") and stuck the whole pot in the freezer for an hour and a half, till it was cold enough to drink with ice. It was VERY good, and made me crave the pitcher. ...

And, so here's the update....

Well, it's been a ridiculously busy week for me =( ... Today I woke up and in the beginnings of my day before my eyes opened, I literally thought it was Saturday ... only to realize about 2 mins later it was actually Friday and I would have to go to work and slave one more day before my weekend! No fear. I made it to work and am now running out the clock. (shhhhh, don't tell anyone) This weekend will be a bit weird cause Jay is going to a bachelor party in Las Vegas, leaving tomorrow morning (I know, before everyone freaks out, I am trusting Jay completely, and the guys he's going with are a bit on the nerdy side, so, I'm not anticipating there being any trouble ... cross my fingers and pray.) It does leave me with a weekend ALL to myself, WITH our car no less ... so this little world is my oyster for the next two days ... I'm really hoping to do some song writing and catch up on work (whoo hoo, I know) but I may drive down to Encinitas tomorrow and take in a coffe...

Alabaster jars and Fathers' Day

Image
"6While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, 7a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. 8When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. 9"This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor." 10Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her." Matthew 26:6-12 I turned to this today and found myself meditating on some of the words being used in this passage. This woman (who is described in other books (Luke) as "a sinful w...
