The Week ... in Review

Image
(me and Caper @ A & L's) This Week has been a busy one, I must apologize for not writing. Contrary to my usual business of just working my arse off, work for me was slow (which was really, super duper nice) I just really chilled out, big time, and got all my buttons in a basket (so to speak). I ran alot of errands and am in the middle of finalizing my contract paperwork, which has proved to be challenging, but that's life I guess. I had my very first "good" experience with the American Govt. on Thurs. Jay and I had to go to the IRS Assistance center to make sure we got his tax stuff all straight, which we had -- but the lady who helped us was so nice to us, security was still there (those Americans) but it was acutally an almost plesant experience. This weekend was amazing. We went out after church on Sat. with Andy and Laura and their friend Daniel, down from L.A. Daniel works for a company that is contracted by a little T.V. show called HERO'S. Daniel is cur...

RED TAPE

The more I live the more I see with my own two big green eyes The world tries to protect us we try to protect ourselves our homes our bodies our neighborhoods our countries when all it takes one disaster to make things that much worse or better there are too many forms to fill out too many screens to go through to many times to prove who I am to who you are I'm just blood and bone and one human soul one Christ spirit only here for one moment in eternal time this won't even matter too bad we can't do much better.

Landscapes -- Manufactured

So, as some of you might be aware, we live in an absolute construction zone. The powers that be are currently demo-ing, re-modeling, and beautifying our complex, within which, in the end, we'll be "most happy" to pay the 50% increase to our rent for all the modifications which they're putting the property through ... (please feel my sarcasm here) but in all seriousness -- the place is looking ALOT better, and it's a shame, since we won't be able to afford the rent, and right now we're living in a "dorm room" of sorts out of necessity (see our predicament from about a month ago) So, amid the banging, the consistent "beep..beep..beep.." of backing up back-hoes, and the "swish, swish" of the sprayers, spraying new paint onto the weathered concrete of the building ... they tore up, or torn down (I guess, depending how you look at it). ALL the vegetation around the building ... they tore down the "dumb tree" (see post fro...

Random thoughts from a pondering mind

I'm feeling rather inspired tonight ~ and not artistically, but in my heart, and I wanted to write it down so that a) I won't forget and b) I can hold myself accountable to what i am thinking at this moment. Simple right? Tonight I went to my second staff meeting for the SanDiego Church, ever, and it was alright. I was asked to lead worship (all by myself!!) so I brought Evan's guitar and did a couple song's all while sweating and hoping I didn't screw up, but it worked out well. The talk was pretty normal and churchy I guess, about the service, whether we should keep the tables, etc. But then the conversation turned a little serious. One of the guys there was mentioning a lady, who, I guess had decided to stop attending the church because there wasn't "communication" between the leadership and the congregation, and she is going through some stuff right now and really needed someone to minister to her as opposed to her coming to the church to serve: th...

Rockin' in the Free World

Some Rock star pictures, on request from Jay ... this was part of what our show looked like on Saturday. Photos were taken by our good friend Andy McElroy -- who's skills on the camera are MAD! Check out his blog (see our sidebar) for details.... The week is going good, but busy. I will be leading worship this Saturday night (the new night for our church service) for the first time ALL BY MYSELF. I am a little worried, I may even play acoustic ... but that would be pushing me quite a bit, but maybe that's what God wants to do ... I don't know. Our church was meeting in a school gym, but we had to leave because our lease was up so a church named Existence has opened it's doors to us to share thier building. It's pretty cool, and it's exciting to actually have a building, to not have to tear down and set up everytime. Other than that, work is trucking away. I am almost through the crunch I think ... and I'm looking forward to hanging on on Sat. morning with...

Rocks and Flocks

This weekend Jay and I played a show (our first official California gig) at the Sera Mesa Rec. Centre ... aparently the show will make the community paper highlights ... there was a small turnout, but overall was pretty fun, although I've come to the unofficial conclusion that I think from now on, I'd only really like to do either our own music, or worship music, not just a bunch of rock-raging covers, it was still a cool experience. By far the highlight for me was belting out "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane... In honour of the gig I adopted a some new locks. Jay rocked out and we spent our afternoon at O.B. just hangin' with the locals and celebrating Jay's "pre-birthday" (yep, his birthday is in fact tomorrow!!!) For the families: Jay got some surf-board wax and a beach towel for his birthday. We'll go our tomorrow night to our fav. sushi place to eat and celebrate his FIRST Birthday here in California. Sometimes it seems so surreal th...
