And so life goes ...

I got sick right on Jay's 38th birthday =(  it was super sucky, we had a great dinner party planned w/ friends and I literally got sick RIGHT on Saturday, had to call everyone to cancel and have spent the last 5 days miserable with fever, cough, and a big ol' block of boogers in my head. Went to the doctor yesterday and got antibiotics (which i usually try to stay away from, I'm not really into pills) but I knew that something bigger had me this time, turns out I have a sinus infection that is moving into my throat (nice, for me, a singer) so just been taking it easy.  I have taken all three days off work too, just been lounging about and napping. I tell you, it is NOT easy for me to do nothing (lol). I have a really hard time sitting still and just being.  This time has made me realize that forsure. Other than the immediate, work has been VERY stressful (one of the reasons I think I actually got sick in the first place) I actually had a breakdown last week -- first ti...

Blogging from a coffee shop

Image
Random shot I guess, just got these tights and YES i wore them to work!! Take that Corporate America!! So, I have officially become "that" person.   You know the one who sits in a table seat w/ their Vanilla Latte and types away at their MAC like it's going out of style listening to the Jazz eminatting from the coffee shop speakers and the din of the other cafe-goers, going about their evening. Yep, I'm bloggin' in a coffee shop. I had to meet some potential clients here tonight and brought my laptop for the most kamikazzi (and pretty unprofessional to be brutally honest) portfolio viewing in my life, haha, BUT I am so busy right now that it ceases to really bug me to care enough. If they don't like what they see, so be it! But it went well and instead of heading home I thought I would take the time to look like an artsy snob before I head home ;) So, ofcourse work right now is INSANE.  A jumble of crazy deadline projects that are so very large and...

About Loving Someone that you've never met

Image
It's not often that you get that chance really. Can you think of the last time you did? Usually you meet someone, a friendship sparks and you grow ~ it grows. sometimes slowly through bonds of tea and long talks, sometimes quickly through circumstance or tragedy. But usually, I would wager almost always, you see & experience before you believe. Perhaps it wasn't necessarily just regarding Faith in Christ when Jesus told his disciples after his resurrection “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Because it takes such faith to do so.  And sometimes believing in a Big and Gracious God is the easy part. What about believing in the love of others? Others who can, will and often do, let you down, because after all, we are all human I have been given the beautiful circumstance of loving people before I see them; with the revelation in January of my Father and his whole, rather large family . At first it did...

Mother's

Galatians 5:22-25   22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. This mother's day our Pastor had asked us to read Galatians 5: 22-25 (the parts about the fruits of the spirit) and share a bit about our mother's, and how they exhibited one of those fruits. He had asked me to do the same but when I read it, something quite different stood out to me ~ Since we LIVE by the Spirit, let us keep in step with THE SPIRIT ... it reminded me of an old song my mom used to sing to me before bed. She would tuck me in and scratch my back and sing me one of three songs (or all of them, if I was particularly lucky that night). She would sing, Jesus Loves Me (ofcourse) Jesus Loves the Little Children, and ...

Our Anniversary Dessert at "Ruth's Chris" Restaurant Ahhh!!! A quick update =) April flew by, I was busy up the ying yang with freelance and other things ... our album was finally mastered (mid April) in New York City and is now complete and I am in the process of figuring out what's next, designing the album cover and graphics and such ... praying about what to do from here is strange and the process seems kind of anti-climactic at present. Work at JC has been a rollercoaster, they have fired our VP of Marketing (ofcourse, they didn't SAY that, but that's pretty much what happened) and also the VP of IT ... it's a strange time in the building and for our dept. -- we were basically told that if we can't turn the ship around in 90 days, it's going to be an interesting space ... so the dept. is on situation critical, lots of changes ... lots of agency meetings (which I am NOT invited too) lots of feeling like I"m really looking forward t...

Change of Gears

where I am meant to be =) So, today, I figured that I would go for a bike ride for NO REASON, except for the sheer pleasure of feeling the wind in my face. Literally, I don't think I've done something without having some alternative "get it done" type purpose, in a VERY long time! I pulled out my littl rusty ruged beach cruiser and headed down Ocean Street (full of tourists on Spring Break) and then down to the sand of Tamarack Beach and rode as far as I could ... I just got back from my beach ride and it was FANTASTIC, and though today it has been a bit overcast and breezy, the clouds have been cooperating a bit and I was able to get out and just forget about some stuff and watch the waves roll in. I ended up "pulling-in" (haha) to some rocks and just sat there, staring out at the upturned waters, and prayed for a bit and just took in the ocean. It feels really good in my soul to just pray. I know that we prob. should feel that way all the time, b...

The Outside is only skin deep

Today I am wearing a tailored suit jacket by the designer Jean Paul Gaultier. A french couture designer, this Jacket was made in Italy (so it's bearing patch says on the inside lining). I found this jacket-gem at the consignment store (which if any of you know me, know I refer to it lovingly as "my" consignment store).  I haven't been making to many apperances there as of  late, since I am trying to curb my shopping habit and my current wardrobe has literally broken my closet (I'm not kidding, Jay fixed it) but I simply cannot pass up a good deal, and this my friends, was a deal of all deals. The retail sticker price was still hanging in the coat -- a bland testament to it's earthy value and worth -- a white 3" x 1" tag from Barney's New York that reads $1240.  I paid $75. Clearly you can see the deal here.  The coat is very "Gaultier" by it's tailored cut, impecable lining and interesting european cuts and designer "un-belli...
